Imagine walking through a Rohingya camp—what’s the most common item you’d see?

Plastic bags.

While the struggle with this waste remains persistent, CARE Bangladesh chooses to recycle. Through #innovative #technology, discarded plastic bags are transformed into durable, reusable everyday items—like customizable crutches made to fit each user. Even the cut-off pieces are returned to the recycling plant and turned into new products.

By promoting eco-friendly alternatives and reducing single-use plastics, CARE operates a plastic recycling plant inside the Rohingya camps, turning waste into practical solutions. This initiative is supported by the Australian Government through the Australian Humanitarian Partnership and UNICEF Bangladesh—protecting the environment while restoring dignity and mobility.
